Yoga

Since the late 1990s, I have been a dedicated practitioner of Classical Hatha Yoga, devotional Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga, Tantra and newer, emerging forms, such as OM yoga and Anusara.  Ever evolving, my personal practice is a fusion of various techniques and traditions, encompassing precision, flow, dynamism, concentration, stillness, mindfulness, observation, sound, relaxation and meditation.   In addition to over 400 hours in teacher training courses, intensives, and assistantships with the ever-brilliant American Yoga Master Rod Stryker, I am also deeply thankful for the  instruction and training  receIved from many gifted teachers, especially Cyndi Lee and Judith Lasater.  I am also very indebted to the brilliant and life-affirming teachings and practices offered through the Shambhala Mandala, most notably by Pema Chodron and Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

During Vinyasa Fusion™ classes and workshops, I encourage fellow-practitioners to fully enter their bodies in a relaxed, safe, mindful and fun environment, where the practice of postures becomes a flowing and joyful celebration of life.  Intelligent sequencing with attention to precise alignment and breath are the pillars of this physically challenging, yet non-aggressive practice, fusing action with intention, body with mind.  In restorative and gentle classes, my hope is to facilitate each student's reconnection with their calm, all-nourishing center of stillness, contentment and knowing.

Thai Yoga Therapy

My interest in physical fitness, health, holistic living and alternative healing began in the early 1980s and ripend over a decade later when Chronic Fatigue Syndrom (CFS) introduced me to the physical manifestations of chronic emotional and physical stress.  CFS ushered in major lifestyle changes, including Yoga, meditation and frequent visits to various workshops, trainings, ashrams and meditation centers.  These experiences offered the invaluable opportunity to fully immerse myself in life-altering teachings acquired through committed self-study, personal practice and the generosity of many gifted teachers.  Thai Yoga Therapy and Restorative Yoga combine my passion for movement and stillness with my deeply held belief in the healing power of meditation, metaphysics, and loving-kindness.   Today, my ongoing “dance” with stress-related fatigue has led to an even deeper commitment to meditation and contemplation, “down time,” healthy eating and regular periods of relaxation.  I hope to continue working with others in their own journeys to wholeness and fulfillment.

The Lotus Palm School of Thai Massage (Montreal, Quebec) founded by Kam Thye Chow emphasizes loving touch, mindfulness and Metta (loving-kindness).  It was there that I completed my certification training in February 2005.
