Monday July 21 – Saturday July 26, 2003  -

Olympia, Washington, The Evergreen State College

Offering the opportunity for participants to study intensively with one master instructor in a weeklong intensive, while also having direct contact with 6 other world renowned yoga teachers, Six Days on Freedom is a truly unique event.  It is like being part of a "yoga think tank" with the input of many brilliant minds of today's yoga world, bringing with them the direct teachings of brilliant minds of the past.  The variety of perspectives and traditions being offered to each participant in A.M. Master Classes and P.M Keynotes, coupled with the opportunity to connect intensely with a single master teacher is what sets Six Days on Freedom apart from other retreats, trainings and conferences.

This event is a focused training intensive for dedicated practitioners wanting to deepen their yoga sadhana experience.  For teachers, this is also an excellent opportunity to learn the art of infusing the transformational spirit of yoga into your instruction vernacular. Moreover, participants will be taken well beyond the study of asana (postures), exploring yoga as a complete science, or technology of self-mastery, inner-awakening, and personal freedom.  During 6 days of asana practice, lecture, Q&A, and focused workshops and discussions, participants will be invited to examine the intention they bring to their teaching and practice of asana, while being offered the opportunity to explore the deeper dimensions of yoga as a technology of personal alchemy and liberation.

The rural setting of the campus on the Cooper Point Peninsula affords scenic views of the Black Hills, the Olympic Mountain Range, Mount Rainier, the Cascade Mountain Range, and Puget Sound. The campus consists of approximately 1008 acres of land, the largest land area of any post-secondary institution in Washington State. The campus is fortunate to possess 3300 feet of waterfront on Eld Inlet of the Puget Sound.

Most of the academic and social activities on campus occur in the campus Core area where academic buildings, administrative offices and student residences are concentrated. Only one Cluster of academic facilities, the Organic Farm, is removed from the campus Core. Over 700 acres of the campus property is undeveloped forest, meadow and shoreline and it is used for a variety of academic as well as recreational purposes. A key asset of the Evergreen campus environment is the presence of open space, in both the developed and undeveloped areas of campus, providing a pleasant atmosphere for study and work.
