I will not be teaching regular weekly classes in Albany, NY for the remainder of the Summer  2007.

Middleburgh, NY on Mondays.

Mondays, 5:30pm - 7:00pm - Stress-busting Restorative Yoga (all levels)
Renewing, unwinding, balancing, de-stressing.  Restorative yoga utilizes props and blankets to create a series of passive postures that help the body and mind relax into a peaceful and calm state.  This class will begin with a gentle series of yoga postures and stretching exercises to open up and soften the tight places where we store lots of tension.

Mondays, 7:30pm - 9:00pm - Vinyasa Fusion Yoga (experienced practitioners/ fit newcomers)
Slow, deep, precise and flowing, vinyasa yoga is generally considered to be strength building and uplifting, yet calming to the body and mind.  Raise body heat, boost metabolism, improve circulation and cardiovascular strength, lengthen muscles, and much more.  With special emphasis on alignment and a compassionate attitude, we will discover the principles that underlie a safe, powerful, deep and effective yoga practice that limits one's exposure to the risks of repetitive stress injuries.

Option A:  Drop-in for any class @ $12. Option B:  Purchase a block of 8 classes @ $80 ($10/class).  You may attend any 8 classes out of 12 consecutive classes.   This option is replacing the "series" system.  My feeling is that it is a more equitable method, allowing you to miss sessions without forfeiting the class.

Various Class Descriptions

General

Vinyasa Fusion is an integrative, non-aggressive yoga practice of mindfulness, aligned posture, physical challenge, breath, self-inquiry, balance and awakening  Yoga postures are linked with steady and consistent breath in a flowing sequence that links action with intention, body with mind.

Specific

Dynamic Flow -- Emphasizing precison, skill and dynamism, Dynamic Flow is for experienced practitioners who enjoy a vigorous practice of flowing, strength-building postures.  Working with consistent, ujjayi breath, classes explore the interplay of action and intention, effort and surrender, focus and light-heartedness.  Sequences include surya namaskar, vinyasa transitions, forward bends, backbends, twists, arm balances and inversions. Concentration, mindfulness, self-inquiry, curiosity, patience and intuition are the basis of a practice that is at once fortifying, calming and liberating to both body and mind.

Spacious Flow -- Deep, meditative, and flowing, Spacious Flow emphasizes precision, physical challenge, playfulness and the deep sensations of presence and awakening experienced through the interplay of body, breath, mind and spirit. Fewer postures with more time spent in each pose will give us the opportunity to really "tune-in" to the deep sensations of presence and awakening experienced through the interplay of body, breath, mind and spirit. Concentration, meditation, relaxation, renewal, wakefulness and celebration are among the benefits of a practice that balances the energies of effort and surrender, inner and outer, action and stillness, hard and soft.

Stress-busting Yoga:  Spacious Flow with Restorative.  Unwind and de-stress.  Move, stretch and breathe.  Rebalance and recharge yourself in this combination “Spacious Flow with Restorative” class.  Spacious Flow weaves sun salutations and standing poses into a flowing sequence that links breath with movement, while warming the body and calming the mind.   Restorative Yoga invites you to completely “let go” in order to experience deep states of tranquility and inner-calm.  Using props such as blankets, blocks, sandbags and bolsters, Restorative Yoga offers us an opportunity to access and enjoy the benefits of gentle and sustained physical opening, as well as sustained deep relaxation of the mind.

Gentle & Restorative --Renewing, unwinding, balancing, de-stressing.  Restorative yoga utilizes props and blankets to create a series of passive postures that help the body and mind relax into a peaceful and calm state.  This class will also include a gentle, slow and basic series of yoga postures and stretching exercises to open up and soften the tight places where we store lots of tension.
